  • NAUI Open Water / Beginner Scuba Diver Certification Courses:

  • Shop / Group classes typically start at the first of the month and run to the end of the month.
  • Classes meet twice a week, days vary, but usually Tuesday and Thursday.  Be sure to ask when signing up.
  • HEATED Pool and classroom are onsite.
  • There will be 2 days of open water dives at a local lake.
  • Classes are limited to 10 people per class!  Register Early!
  • Cost is $550 - includes your text book and all gear needed  for basic classes.*
  • Must call to sign up.  There is no online sign up for beginner classes.  Walk-ins may not always be accommodated.

    *While all equipment is provided for basic classes, we highly suggest students purchase their own mask.  We have a wide variety available in both style and cost.  For advanced classes (Dive Master, Assistant Instructor and above, and some specialties) we REQUIRE students to purchase their own gear and instruments. Please contact us for details. Payment plans are available, but arrangements must be in place and 1st payment made at least 48 hours before start of 1st class.

  • Texas Statue University Students:

    If you are looking to take a class for credit with Texas State University, please contact the registrar's office for upcoming classroom and lab times and fees.  There are classes offered each semester, times and levels vary. 

  • Due to Covid-19, Please call the shop for information about classes.
  • Open Water / Beginner Scuba is course PFW 1190F - You must register for BOTH Lecture and Lab with that course number.
  • For Advanced diver and above, or Under Water Photography, please contact the shop for those course numbers and to see if you qualify. Again, you will need to register for BOTH Lecture and Lab with those course numbers.
  • You may register up till 3 days after the semester begins, but there maybe additional penalties and fees from the University, and missed class times and labs will need to be made up / re-scheduled on your own time. 

  • If you are already certified (by NAUI, PADI, SSI, SDI, or another organization) and looking to take an advanced class (either with the shop directly, or through Texas State University) please call and discuss your skill level with an instructor BEFORE registering for a class.  A refresher or dive assessment maybe needed.

    Unsure if you Scuba is right for you?  You can try it before you sign up for a class! 

    Haven't been scuba diving in a while?  Come in for a refresher session!

     

    For $150 you can come and try scuba or you can refresh your skills. 

    Sessions are between an hour and an hour and a half, and can be scheduled at your convenience at our pool. 

    Cost includes use of all gear needed and an instructor/Dive Master present for the duration of your session to answer any questions or help you refine your scuba skills.

    Nitrox Certification Classes:


    Get your NAUI Nitrox Certification!

    This is one of the easiest and most common specialties you can get!

    Using Nitrox allows you to extend your bottom times, reduce the danger of decompression sickness, have shorter surface intervals, and makes you a little less tired after a day of dives - And it only requires one class room visit, and only 1 check out dive!*

    Cost is $250 and includes book, tables, and 1 Nitrox tank for your certification dive.  Certification dive will be scheduled during the class.  All classes are on a Wednesday night at the Dive Shop.  Please come in or call to register.

    Rescue Diver Certification Class
    :

    Become a Rescue Diver!

    This is a challenging, yet rewarding way to gain a specialization, enhance your diving skills, and start your path toward NAUI Diver Leadership.

    In this course you will learn how to manage risks and effectively handle limited in-water problems and diving emergencies, how to assist and transport injured divers, and how to perform surface rescues and rescues from depth involving both boat and shore based skin and scuba divers.

    If you are looking to advance your training, or just be a safer diver, than this course is for you!  It is also mandatory in you are looking to become a NAUI leader - Assistant Instructor, Diver Master, or Instructor. 

    INCLUDED in this class is Adult, Child and Infant CPR, 1st Aid, O2 Provider, AED, and Hazardous Marine Life Injuries.

    Also included is full classroom instruction, pool and skill instructions, books and e-learning, and a lake / open water session for practice and certification.

    Class, pool, and lake instructions are held over a consecutive 2 day weekend class.  Classes will be from 8am to about 5pm (maybe later depending on class size and skill level), both days.   You must be present BOTH days, consecutively, for the full class time.   You will be required to do some e-learning on your own time. 

    Please also be prepared to bring your lunch (lunch break length will depend on how class is flowing).  And be prepared to be in the water, or at the lake, and in class on both days. 

    You must at least a NAUI Certified Advanced Diver (or above) with a dive within the last 6 months.  If you do not meet these requirements, are certified by another agency, or are under the age of 15, please let us know so we can discuss your skills and options available to you. 

    Cost is $650 for full Rescue Class

    You must call the shop (512-396-3483) to register for this class, there is no online registration or payments allowed for this course.  Walk-in participants may not be able to join this due to training requirements and class size.

    Payment is due by the beginning of class; payment options and methods will be discussed when you call for registration.

    Advanced and Master Diver Classes:



    While these course are usually separated, we combine them so divers can learn about different diving activities, increase confidence as a diver, and become a leader in the diving community.

    During this course, divers will perform at least 8 dives, which include:
  • Emergency procedures and rescue
  • Deep / simulated decompression diving
  • Limited visibility or night diving
  • Learning to navigate underwater
  • Search patterns

    Introduction to Technical Diving:


    See if specialized or technical diving is right for you!

    This course is a great way for recreational divers to get familiar with the discipline and attention to detail it takes to be a specialty or technical diver.  It will also help you streamline your equipment, includes sidemount training, understand more about physiology, decompression, and buoyancy control.

    If you are interested in a career in diving, considering specific technical diving training, or cave diving, this is where you start!

    Freediving Course, Typically in the Spring and Fall:


    Free DiverLearn to swim deeper and longer underwater and have better breath control! 

    Whether a complete beginner or an informally trained freediver/spearfisherman with years of experience, this course will set you on the right path to eliminate bad habits and show you the most efficient and safe freedive techniques.

    Please register and pay using the links above.  Total cost for tuition is $325, deposit is $100.  Payment plans are available.

    Open water certification part of class limited to 6 students, 1st come 1st serve.

    1 day (Saturday) pool and instruction only sessions are available for larger classes or refreshers.  You must make your own arrangements for certification. Tuition for 1 day class / pool only available.

    Schedule for the class is as follows:

    Saturday:
  • Classroom session: 8am - 12pm
  • Lunch (Please bring your own lunch or be prepared to quickly go get your own lunch)
  • Pool session: 1pm - 4pm

    Sunday: Canyon Lake Open Water session: 9am - about noon.  Could run later depending on class size performance.  Limited to 6 students.

  • CPR:

    Do you need to be CPR certified? 

    We do not schedule these classes individually as they are often included in some of our diver training courses, but we can tell you what day they are offered during the month so you can come and get certified with us. 

    If you have a group that needs to be certified, or a deadline, we can also arrange a class just for you.

    That's right, you can learn to be a real mermaid! Come let your dreams come true!

    Not only is it fun, but it's a good way to keep fit!

    Classes are $150 per session, 1 hour long, and include instruction and use of a tail.  Please show up at least 30 minutes before class time for paperwork and to get fitted into your tail.  Classes are open enrollment and up to 8 people per session - and they fill up fast, so please call the shop and reserve your spot today!

    Classes are typically on Sundays in the summer. 

    We should have summer dates available in early spring, if not before.  They will be announced here and our Facebook page.

    Class participants will also receive 10% off the price of tail if they would like to purchase one for, or after, the class.
    Classes are for ages 7 years old through adult. If your child is under 7, please contact the shop so we can see if this class is a good fit for you.
